A history of Napoleon Bonaparte's captivity on St. Helena, examining both the British perspective as well as that of the camp of Napoleon. Aubry draws on primary documents, including the papers of Hudson Lowe and other records in an attempt to present an unbiased look at the events surrounding the death in exile of Napoleon and the subsequent fallout. GOOD+ condition. General fading to the cloth, with darkening along the spine. Minor scuffing and soiling. Light scuffing along the extremities. Bookplate of Willard Hallam Bonner on the inside front cover. Small red lines in the margins of two pages of the preface. Text otherwise clean and solid. Good/No Jacket.

With a few small maps. A detailed history of the struggle between Napoleon and his French army and Prussia, chronicling the fighting at Jena in 1806, as well as the commencement of fighting 1813 upon Napoleon's taking refuge in Prussia upon his failures in Moscow. This includes the battle for Berlin, fighting in Leipzig, etc. GOOD+ condition. General fading and minor scuffing to the covers, a bit heavier to the rear covers. Minor soiling. Cloth scuffed and worn along the extremities, with some splitting and fraying. Previous owner's stamped library bookplate in the inside covers, somewhat mimicking a library bookplate, although there is no indication this was a library. Text blocks clean and solid. Good/No Jacket.

Apparently disbound from a larger work, as binding holes are present. Approximately 10 ¼ by 8 ¾ inches. Some boundary lines in color, with the islands of Sicily, Sardinia and Corsica tinted pink. A map of Italy, perhaps from the late 1700s or early 1800s, depicting cities and geographic features, as well as some bordering countries. All text in Latin. GOOD condition. Minor toning, curling and soiling to the piece, with a few very minor stains. Some creasing at the corners. Small notation in ink at the center right margin. Good .
